Site context
The site (edged red on the aerial photograph below) is located in the southern part of Four Marks, a village in East Hampshire approximately 5 miles southwest of Alton. The site lies north of Alton Lane, with Four Marks Primary School to the west, and Garthowen Garden Centre to the east.

The site
The site measures approximately 5.0 hectares (12.4 acres) and consists of a single agricultural field parcel currently used for sheep grazing, with trees and hedgerows marking the field boundaries.
The site lies immediately north of Alton Lane and is generally flat with the northern edge sloping down to the boundary. Alton Lane is a residential lane providing direct access to a number of residential properties, equestrian uses, and businesses including Garthowen Garden Centre and Two Acre Nursery.
To the east, the site borders the rear gardens of several properties in Lymington Bottom with mature tree planting, and to the north west, the site adjoins an existing dwelling curtilage (Landport). There are further dwellings on both the north and south sides of Alton Lane close to the site.
The northern boundary is defined by a fence and tree planting, beyond which there is an area of land that has recently been promoted for housing development.
There are no public rights of way within the site or in the near vicinity.
See the photos below for a visual understanding of the site under discussion; the images show photographs taken of the site both on foot and via drone.
